I have 7 others with no problems. The magnet on this one wasn't glued on very well.Works fantastic in a metal locking cabinet. Exactly what I was looking for just wish they came out with a double length version that holds six. One major problem maybe not so major but still an issue. The glue used for the magnetic strip is cheap and will come off and your rifles will fall which can be expensive. Before using this take the strip off get some gorilla glue and fix it before it’s broken.I wish this didn't have the Kitschy plastic housing with the big LOCKDOWN lettering and fake bolts. It would make the unit a bit more trim and in my mind aesthetic.I use this on the side of my safe to have a handy place to prop rifles and I pull them out to either get ready for use or to get them out of the way as retrieve rifles that are deeper in the safe. It works fine, but the magnet is just strong enough that I don't really worry about it slipping. I would prefer, however, that there was a bit more power there, making it so I did not even think of it slipping.In actual use the magnet power will probably never be an issue, but it's right at the edge.I ordered 2. They both fell apart within a few days of ordering and had not even been used yet. I super glued them together and they will work for what I got them forMagnet is strong, works just fineConstruction is plastic (not metal, as it appears) with a hard rubber insert that provides the three cradle positions. A fairly large strip of magnetic tape is affixed to the back and works very well to hold the barrel rest to a vertical metallic surface. What it will not do - magnetically hold your barrels in place. You need to lean them against this rest, as you would any other type of rest. The magnet is simply intended to hold the rest in place.I am very happy with its function, but have taken one star off for its cheesy styling. The bolt heads are fake and appear to simply be a chrome painted portion of the overall plastic mold. No idea why they added them to the mold. I could have also done without the prominent "LOCKDOWN" branding, which is why I mount mine upside down.But it works. And works well. And the price is fair enough that you could buy several and accommodate rifles that need rests at different heights in the same container.Works great inside gun safety cabinets like the Stack-On series, which in their default state have rifle rests that are way too high to accommodate AR-15s, Ruger 10/22s, some shotguns or generally anything with a 16.5" barrel or collapsible stock.The magnet is very strong, and while the unit itself feels like cheap plastic, it seems more than durable and should last longer than you'd need it. The width between the slots is a bonus as it aids in holding guns that have wider barrels or accessories like small lights and full length hand guards. If you are using it inside a Stack-On cabinet, the increased width will lower the number of long guns you can fit by 1 per side (each Lockdown holds 3 long guns), but this was really negligible to me because it does a better job at holding them and can be arranged at any height.Strongly recommend, and could be used for other mounting purposes as well, wherever a strong magnet is required.This is an okay product as is, but it is almost necessary to make modifications. Once you do modify as I did, it will be MUCH better.First off, the reason I bought this was to attach to a metal bar that was glued to a 6ft folding table for when I'm out shooting. I thought it would be a perfect rifle rest and space saver. Well, the magnet is very weak and is poorly glued onto the rest itself. It seemed like a heavy enough rifle could cause the magnet to come off, not something anyone wants around fire arms.What I did to solve this problem is took the magnet strip that was already coming off and super glued it really well to the rest. Then I headed down to harbor freight and bought a two pack of strong magnets. Super glued those bad boys to the magnetic strip and the rest was perfect. If you plan to use it on a truck or something similar I'd recommend to cover the surface of the strong magnets with a thin layer of cloth.I haven't really been able to find any type of better alternative, so for the price of modifications which is a few dollars, I'd say its worth it.I brought it for inside my cabinet but it’s to big, but brilliant for the side of your car when getting your stuff ready to go into the field.Works well, but major flaw. It does exactly what your would expect, hold up your barrels against a metal surface. With SBRs, bull-pups, and collapsable stocks on modern rifles, your standard gun cabinet or safe just isn't designed for these shorter rifles. This barrel rest lets you mount it at any height in your cabinet. The big problem is, with as wide as the barrel rest is, it waste a lot of space at the edges (the two silver parts). It would have been much better if the rests were more spaced out from one another. It wouldn't but such an issue if you did not use trigger locks, but I do, and that makes the rifle thicker than what these designers were thinking.Overall it works well, but not the best solution. A little larger than I thought it would be; but that's my oversight - just make sure you're aware of the overall measurements first.The magnet is glued to the plastic and will not hold very long. You will have to buy a strong glue to keep the magnet in place!
